Mocha, is a firm Catholic believer, she admits that however she stressed that the reason why she supports such bill is because she cares a great deal about sex education for the young people and health of women. She said this in an interview on ABS-CBN.
"Kung gusto nila, sige i-excommunicate nila ako kung gusto nila," Uson said.
" Hindi ako natatakot kasi wala naman akong ginagawang masama. Matagal ng isyu ito. Actually huling huli na tayo. Hindi ako natatakot kahit makipagharapan pa sa kanila. Naniniwala ako sa RH bill at sa sex education. RH bill is pro-better life," the singer added.
She also have mentioned that besides sexually transmitted diseases, (a.k.a STD), the number of teenage pregnancy in our country is in constant increase. She utters that, she has been receiving plenty of emails around her circle wondering and asking her regarding sex, which made her conclude that there are a number of youth who do not get proper education about sex.
"Mayroon akong sex blog so marami akong natatanggap na emails from teenagers asking about sex, safe sex. Doon ko na-realize na kailangan ng effective sex education sa mga school. Kasi nga walang gumagabay sa kanila. Sa bahay hindi pinag-uusapan. Sa school hindi din, so naghahanap sila ng information sa labas," the singer explained.
In showing her stand and support on for the heated issue of the RH bill, she and a group of her friends have joined the tricycle drives who are pro-RH bill supporters like the representative of Davao Mr. Marc Cagas last Tuesday morning. They gave away condoms and purple ballers that says “I love SEX education”. These ballers were given to the people all around Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City.
She was asked for her reaction towards the people who criticize her for supporting the said bill who thinks that she is merely doing this for the sake of publicity, for the sake of getting more famous. She replies “Gusto kong magkaroon ng contribution kasi naniniwala ako sa sex education. So I love sex. Sex exists with or without RH bill."
Mocha vs. Manny
Throughout this blog Mocha is not just the only one who supports and have taken steps to promote the implemented of the RH Bill.
Prior to Mocha Uson, is the world class singer, Lea Salonga who is continually expressing her full support on the RH Bill.
However, one anti-RB bill advocator, on the other side is boxing champion and Sranggani’s Representative Manny Pacquiao. She confesses that she truly admires and is a fan of Manny Pacquiao, but reiterated that when it is the country’s problem that we are talking about, the boxer should use his head.
"Kumbaga idol ko sa Pacman. Champion of the world. Sana maging champion din siya ng mahihirap. Kasi ang RH bill kailangan ng mahihirap 'yan. Sana maging champion of the poor siya at ipaglaban niya ang mahirap," Uson said.
